ER season 3 was premiered on 9-26-1996 with the episode entitled ‘Dr. Carter, I Presume’. As the Season 3 begins, Dr. Susan Lewis quits the series temporarily after she fails in romance with Dr. Greene and as a result her ever increasing emotional problems are aggravated. During the season 1 and season 2, John Carter appears as an intern but season 3 brings him as a doc so he stars off the season now as a doctor but still low on the food chain as a first year intern. Some new appearances were also made on this season as such the head of the surgery Dr. Donald Anspaugh, pediatrician Dr. Abby Keaton and an over insensitive intern Dr. Dennis Gant who, unable to withstand the incessant hectoring of hard-driving supervisor Dr. Peter Benton, commits suicide. Benton is dealing with his own personal and professional issues as such Dr. Keaton dismisses him from the prestigious pediatrics team; his current girlfriend Jeanie is HIV positive ( as shown by the season 3 finale); and the last but not the least his former girlfriend giver birth to his son who’s born deaf. Dr.Ross’s last night partner is dead so he’s another scandal associated with him. Carol Hathaway, the head nurse is torn between in staying with her current profession or entering the med school. Season finale ‘One More for the Road’ was aired on 5-15-1997. As the climax comes, Greene has allowed a black patient to die while taking care of a white patient so is accused of doing so. Charlie arrive sin the hospital after a drug overdose. Season ends with Ross and Hathaway kissing each other.

Season’s #1 Episode- The Long Way Around’

Carol, her little neighbor and many other customers are locked in a convenience store. The owner injures one of the robbers and gets wounded by another robber. It’s the time for carol to test her medical ability and to keep the wounded alive just by using the instruments and stuff available at the store. Her 10 years old neighbor Robert helps her.
