Noah Wyle was born on 4 June 1971 in Hollywood, California, US. He was born as the child of Marjorie (nee Speer), a registered orthopedic head nurse, and Stephen Wyle, an electrical engineer. His parents separated when he was still a child, in 1970’s. His mother re-married James C. Katz, who had three children from his previous marriage and he was a film restorationist. Noah is the grandchild of Edith and Frank Wyle, who founded the Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art Museum. He studied at The Thacher School, Ojai, in California. While studying at the Northwestern University, he participated in theatre arts program. He started taking classes from the acting teacher, Larry Moss.

He married Tracy Warbin on 6 May 2000 and they have a son and a daughter. He is attached with the international non-profit organization- Doctors of the World. He is also a member of Human Rights Watch Council. He is a voluntary artistic producer of the Blank Theatre Company in Hollywood. He recently also acquired the Second Stage Theater in Hollywood. He served The Cover, the uninsured campaign in 2004, as its spokesperson. He himself is a vegetarian and a supporter of animal rights and is the spokesman of the World Wildlife Fund.

He made his first appearance in ‘Lust in the Dust’ as an extra. Then he appeared in the movie ‘Crooked Hearts’ and ‘There Goes My Baby’. He also played parts in the local plays at Los Angeles. His appearance in ‘ER‘ gave him the much-needed identity. He appeared in some TV Movies like ‘Guinevere‘, ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’, ‘Fail Safe’, ‘The Librarian: Quest for the Spear’, ‘The Librarian: Return to King Solomon’s Mines‘ and ‘The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice’. He has also acted in feature films like, ‘White Oleander’, ‘Enough’, ‘Donnie Darko‘, etc.

He has acted on stage for ‘The 24th Day’, ‘The Who’ and ‘Lobster Alice. He also appeared in the advertising campaign ‘Got Milk’.

He was recorded as the ‘Highest paid TV drama actor per episode’ in the Guinness World Records 2005 Special 50th anniversary edition. For the season of 2003/2004, he earned at least $400,000 per episode.

He earned nominations in the Golden Globe Awards (1997-1999) for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV for ‘ER‘. He also was a nominee for the Emmy Awards from 1995 to 1999 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for ‘ER’. He won the Screen Actors Guild Awards (1996-1999), and was nominated for the same in 1995, 2000 and 2001, for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for ‘ER‘. He also has earned nominations in various other awards in different categories and won some of them.
